The Dream of Speed is a portrait of one of my motor racing heroes, Sir Henry ‘Tim’ Birkin, the most famous of the Bentley Boys. Birkin is captured in reflective mood, knowing he will have to use all 160 mph of his supercharged ‘Blower Special’ to claim the lap record at Brooklands. He went on to set the record at an average speed of 137.96 mph in 1932.
